Stampede
As a native Calgary of 51 years, except for the free breakfasts I can't stay far enough away.
I used to be a part of the Stampede up until 1985 then after that it dwindled.
I usually go down one day and buy tickets and listen to some music for a while, watch the foreworks and go home.
It's nice having the special stampede bus two streets away.
I walk there to ride down> take it back >walk two streets and I'm home.
I also used to help out with the Karaoke Contest but it got so overwhelming I had to dis-continue that too.
For me,the Novelty is gone.

Stampede
I, like dennis, had grown tired of the stampede and all the crowds etc untill last year when we took our kids. They had a great time and it cost about the same as the rocky rodeo for 100times the fun.
We took in the final grand stand show and it truly was GRAND.
Things may bigger else were but NONE could be better.
I got the idea how big a deal the Stampede was a few years ago when I met this fellow from Quebec. He was in his late 40's or early 50's and was totaly hyped about going the Calgary Stampede for the first time. I didn't want to burst his bubble so I played along.
People from all over the WORLD come to see the show.
And it realy makes you proud to be a Calgarian (or atleast I'm a former one)
