Pete I save it for winter time then when i cant get to the store at least i have some food in the house. The caramel apples are for Jeff my son and his friends. The pear ghosts is just something i make for fun and they are so yummy too.

Chris lots of work goes into canning but in the winter time its so worth it. I have fun doing it also. I know im wierd sometimes, but out on the ranch thats what i had to do. It just stuck with me.

Sean I am doing great and enjoying my two days off until tomorrow.

I think my mom used to enjoy it as well. I remember sitting in the room waiting for the lids to pop. I don't know if thats the way to still do it.

Chris thats the way I do it. Plus if you can push on the lid and it dont spring back then it is sealed also. Thats another way to check.

And if anyone was wondering what pear ghost are, they are a pear with a stick in the middle where the stem was and white chocolate covering them with 2 mini chocolate chips for the eyes.

I found the recipe in a halloween cookbook for kids. I had to have the cookbook and I make pear ghosts every year since 2000. They are really yummy.

Careful, you'll get a belly ache if you eat too many.
