hehe i heard one year it was so cold in nyc they couldnt put fires out cuz the second the water was coming out of the hoses it was freezing into ice lol...
Funny Shawn. One of my service managers was telling me about a fire he went to one winter where he parked his chief truck down near the building which happened to be downhill of the trucks. Long story short, the ice was up to the doors, so he had to leave it overnight.
RULE #1 - when you are at a fire in the winter, stay the heck away from any wet surfaces especially parking lots and such. I found that out this winter when we at a local VFW hall that burned to the ground.
There was so much mist in the air from all of the master streams from the aerials and deck guns that the parking lot looked like it was wet. In actuallity it was nothing but black ice.
Well I broke down tonight and started a fire in the woodstove. I did it because the dogs got an unexpected bath because we found a few fleas on them and they needed the baths. We have to wait a day or two before we can put the flea stuff on them and I figured that the warmth from the wood stove would help them dry off quicker. It is a nice comfy 77* in the house.
