At a truck stop, I bought 2 full size semi mud flaps, the hard plastic, not the rubber because that will sail up at highway speeds. Cut them to fit with a sabre saw and used SS 1/4" nuts and bolts to secure them. Will try for some pics tomorrow.

Hmmm? CHP is enforcing? Whereabouts in Cali are you? I'm up north of Sackatomatoe and have not heard of enforcement (yet). But as broke as the state is, I wouldn't be surprised if they would ticket for that. Dammit, I didn't want to spend any of my (nonexistent) money on mudflaps right now!

The Duraflaps look like a seriously functional flap.

Anybody know why the list the "drill-less" versions to fit on 2001 and on trucks? Is there actually a difference in the fenders between 1999 and 2001?

They will match to the pre drilled holes. Nice and easy bolt and match.

This is from duraflap...

Mine dont sail??

However I do know that the plastic ones get brittle and crack, if not in the first cold weather day, in a short time.

I thought I would throw that out there, I have never heard of that on properly mounted rubber flaps.

A good rubber flap is stiff anough not to sail, but flexable anough not to break off.

On that same note, I've only seen the cheapest of plsatic flap crack.

Phew!! CHP, huh? I was wondering about that and guess I lucked out. I just spent a few days down in the Fresno area with my Idaho truck. Do have plans to cover up the meats, but I'm holding out for pocket flares.

mud flaps

scooter: yeah, the Ford dealer who sold the lifted truck installed flares and painted to match the truck,CHP liked the flares, but since the truck was raised(by the dealer)...the flares didn't cover enough of the tread area when viewing from behind..said top half of tire must be covered, hence the flaps...Dave

Ordered my duraflaps the other day, after extensive research, they seemed to be the ones that would be easiest to install and would be the longest. Tough decision, because of the price. I hope they are worth the $175.00. Should be coming in next week. Ordered plain black to keep the price down. I figured I could add stainless or aluminum weights later if I wanted. I post some pics when done.
