I just want my truck in the 13's or low 14's. That's all...

can someone explain to me what you do on a dyno? Do you floor it or hold a certain rpm or just do what the operator tells you?

Ou rum it through the rpm range. And you want todo it in your 1:1 gear on your tranny. Meaning you have to get it into 4 th fear or 3rd on an auto. But then you floor it to run it up in rpm. Sometimes they will let you do it, some times the dyno operator will do it.

Come on Neal, tell these guys why you really didn't get on the track. You didn't want my big dually to spank you.

There is a little more to running a turbo diesel on a dyno than a gasser. Using your 1:1 tranny gear is right. You also want enough braking on the roller to allow you to get full boost as soon as possible, while hopefully not getting your EGTs too high. With a stick you need to wait till you get into 4th before they apply a lot of braking. When I ran mine the shop dude drove it because I had never done it before. I sat in the passenger seat and watched the gauges. He did a great job. Many of the "veteran" dyno drivers drove their own rigs.

Oh yes and now I bow down to Rick's dually. I am humbled....

...B.S.

I tell you what Rick, next year! My d60 will be done and the truck will be ready. But is it really all that fair with a 5speed against your auto (aka: one foot wonders). I have to work my way down the track and you ... well just sit there and let the truck take you there.LOL.

Hey Neal, i can actually shift my 5 speed faster than my buddy's 4r100 will shift. haha. BUT his never comes off of 40psi of boost and i'm struggling to stay over 14-15 in shifts... haha. you can do it neal!! i believe that you can do it, but don't do a 3rd gear launch.. Dan told me not to with the full ceramics. he said the full ceramics is good to launch in 2nd, but for good solid 3rd gear launching we need a dual disc.

at our dyno back in april my buddy used a stock h2e and 160cc stage 2's and made 412hp before he blew a boot at 2200 rpms. so we don't know what it will make. 412 at 2200 so i'm guessing close to 450. i think their dyno was off Neal. your truck should be higher than his was especially since you have a handshaker..

I was thinking 2nd gear. My clutch is Ferramic not ceramic so I think 3rd gear launch is a bit much for me. Thanks for the encouragement.

Maybe a short throw shifter is in store?

Neal, remember, that track is 1/8 mile. I can boost over 20 # for the launch. Hope to see you there again, and bring some of your buddies with you.

You are really tempting me my friend.
I am mostly just messing with you but I would like to give it a try. I don't see any reason I can't get some type of line lock and try a clutchslip boosted launch myself. Lol

Heck if nothing else I will race you in the cooler emptying race. I might have a good chance there.

I think me and Cory would have made a good race. We have very similiar trucks with the exception of sticks. He has 230 hybrids and I have 180 singles.

short throw for sure!!! i'm going to look into trying to build my own. can't remember where i saw that write up though.

Line lock fo sho!!! i was going to do this once the f150 is done and i get my dual disc. line lock and 3rd gear, slide the clutch til it builds around 15-20 psi and once you let off that line lock it should launch like a crazy mother!! For some reason though i thought you got the ceramic... hmm.. IIRC Dan sold me this kevlar/ceramic b/c he said launching on the feramic's will kill them quickly. pretty much he said i'm 18 and since i am harsh on a clutch he said i would destroy it so i'm not sure that it would hold to slipping it at the line to build boost..

I took a duramax last time at the track with some pump work, intake, exhaust, and bully dog. i couldn't catch him til a little after the 1/8th though. but once i got on top end it was no contest. i think you could do quite a bit better than me with your power and 4x4. i bounced all over the place so i couldn't launch to save my life. hahahahaha

YOU GOT THIS NEAL, smoke him on the lights and you r in there.. haha

wanna hit the strip yet?? hahaha
