Any VW mechs here?

Ive got that VW dune buggy and its leaking oil out of the transaxle.
Looks like there must be a seal in there somewhere?
Its a old VW , do you think I can still find parts somewhere?
Anyone ever change one?
Thanks

Never had the pleasure of tearing into a VW. Probably nothing at the wreckers. Chucks should be able to find something for you?????

Gotta be parts out there somewhere though.

VW mech here

I used to work on the old VWs for years. VW trannys can be tricky. Is your tranny one with CV joints or the older stiff axel type? It looks like the older type (better for off road). Where is the leak specifically coming from? There are gaskets behind each axel base plate and there is a gasket behind the gearshift housing and there is a gasket between that and the gear carrier housing. You could make those gaskets given a large enough piece of paper gasket material. There is also the seal around the clutch shaft behind the motor. Parts are getting much harder to get for the older stuff in Canada. Yoy may have to order from wolfsburg west in the US. I don't know if Worldpac will have anything. Since Bow Wow closed it's doors, easy access to good older VW parts is difficult.
