E4OD Problems?

I have a 95 with a 351 and E4OD.
I thought initially, from the symptoms it was more of a problem with dirty injectors. The injectors did indeed need cleaning. They are clean, there is no more choking and spitting when
I floor it.

What I'm seeing is:
- when I floor it, the engine winds out and sounds healthy
- it speeds up to a point and seems to stop accelerating
- this point seems to be where it should shift
- the engine is still screaming (4500rpm or so)
- stays this way for a few seconds, no increase in speed
- it then violently shifts gears (dropping to 3000rpm)

To me it seems as though it should shift sooner. I don't
remember it behaving like this before.

If my foot is not so heavy on the pedal thigs work better and smoother

The fluid is at the top hole on the stick.

Any thoughts here? Am I in trouble? Am I mis-diagnosing this problem? Could this be an electronics/sensor problem?
Maybe this is nothing?

Thanks
