The gears are NOT 4.11, the 3.73 sounds right. Like I said, tires are stock size. Fluids are all current. Just did rear axle 2 weeks ago. Already going to pull driveshaft. The tranny should not be driven by the driveshaft....good way to make things go boom.

if there are no hills there, you may tow safelly. But try to get dolly ore 2 axe trailer with built-in brakes. I used to tow many vehicles and be sure you can tow up to 2500 kg with ranger, but hitch load must be about 200 kg. I used to tow so heavy things with my aerostar 3.0 that before hill I had to stop and let engine cool to 50-60 dgr C. At top point I had 98-105 dgr C and steam clouds from under hood. I had 1600 kg inside and about 2000 kg in trailer. It is funny but in crazy 90-s we used to haul chocolate from Germany with Aerostar. ))) then we purchaised two VolvoF10 trucks with draw bar 10 ton trailers. So we hauled 20-30000 kg. It was a good towing (and backing and parking with trailers) school for me.

ok, got the dolly. They allowed me to pick up the dolly with the ranger when I told them I was transporting it to be used with a full size ram truck (my dads). Car is hooked up, steering locked, drive shaft out, lights checked. I head out at 8 am!

Well I'm confused, is it hooked up to "Dads truck", or the Ranger????

Well make sure the Rangers & towed vehicles tires that are down, are aired up good & maybe put a bug screen over the Rangers front end to keep the bugs out of the tranny oil cooler & radiator fins, so you get max air flow through them & have a good safe tow.

Will be interesting to hear how it goes.

Just going to take it slow slow slow. The bugs should not be too much of a problem at 45-50. The only other option is to try to drive the mustang the 4 hours north and its been 3 years since it saw any sort of road duty. Will take some pics!

Well, I made it just fine. Dolly was a little unwieldly with the mustang on it, but she did just fine. Also made it doing about 15.25mpg. Held at about 50 most of the way. The combo was actually more unstable, meaning bouncing, vibrations, etc when towing only the dolly.

OK, well it was a long tug by most standards, so you did good to change the fluids & take it slow & not push things along the way, as the Ranger was likely close to, or maybe over it's max weight some.

Can you drop the tow dolly off, or are you gonna have to bring it back????
If you have to return it, will it fit in the bed, so you can just haul it, might make for a nicer transport that way.
