Gas vs PSD

And yeah, my 06 does not smell of diesel. On a cold morning when it is blowing white smoke, then yeah a little. Other than that, no smell.

its a 2005 f250 and its got a 4.10 in the rear and the heaviest towing tranny that i could have gotten that year ( forget which one it was ). - Love the set up for towing !

Yeah, that is why I did not say "all" LOL.
My diesel, even though it is built, does not smoke, smell of diesel, or anything. Though my buddys 1995 does, that thing smokes worse than a frieght train. Newer diesels don't smell or smoke. I will agree, the 2003 and 2004 6.0 have tons of problems.

While the newer ones may smell less of diesel, they still smell, or I should say my Dad's '07 Dodge does. It's quiet(er), powerful and gets good mileage, 17-18 mpg empty, 10-11 mpg towing his 37 ft 5'er. It also is still a diesel and will still be spendy to fix, which is and always has been my gripe with them. I spent more than a little time researching what truck fit me best and a V10 was it. The 5.4 was too little and the diesel too much, and the V10 was just right, and has proven to be pretty much just that. Hey, if diesel owners are happy with their choice, why is it so hard to think I can't be happy with mine?

And I am not 100% happy with mine, in that the prior owner neglected the cooling system, though other than the fan clutch, I have been trouble free the last 20,000 miles. But a V10 in the MT mountains would not make me happy at all. LOL

Nah, I didn't say you weren't happy with your purchase. I just said if the two were the same price, the PSD to V10 difference would be even greater. From what I have read (no proof), my impression is out of every 10 Super Duties, 8 are PSD, 1 V10, 1 5.4. There would be even less V10s sold. It will be interesting to see the ratio with the new 6.2.

Exactly. Here in north Texas you hardly see gas engine super duties. I mean if the gas engines are so realible and the v-10 can tow just as much as a diesel then how come the diesel ALWAYS out sell the gas engines. And don't say because ford makes more money if they sell the diesel, they make more diesels cause they know if they made more gas engines they would never sell them.
Ford makes more Diesels, means more diesels on the road, not rocket science. Even after 7K posts on the subject some just can't accept that others are content with their choice of a motor that is as capable of the same work albeit different mileage and maintenance costs.

Yeah and there is a reason why ford makes more diesels. Cause they know they will sell and they are better for the american worker.

Your opinion means less with each passing post. Need I remind you that you were just as sure your 5.4 was the perfect truck? Need I also bring up the fact you still haven't posted a 13 second timeslip you claim you can do? Also still looking for that awesome truck of yours to pull into my driveway to race my antique, gas-powered Mustang. Until then, go away...

Oh, so you agree with Josh that the 5.4 is even better than the V10? Man Bill you make this too easy!
