Vin # decode
New guy here with a Vin # question. I have a 1966 F100 4x4.
Vin # F11YEB17871
My question is how accurate is the Vin decoder? When I enter my vin #, It tells me I have a 1967 Ford. No door tag but my front end is a 1966. Is the decoder ever wrong?

My book has this; I'm sure I will be corrected if I am wrong. Please do so if that is the case.
F11 = 4WD
Y = 352 6 cyl
E = Mahway NJ assembly plant
B = ???? are you sure this is not the number 8?
If it is the number 8 then that would make more sense for the remaining 5 digits
I will assume it's an 8 if not then I'm not sure what the B is for
817871 would be the unit number and that would be a February 1965 assembly date.
Also try looking in the glove box for a warranty plate if it is not in the driver side door frame.

EDIT: If you put a 8 in where you have the B then the VIN decoder comes up with what I have listed above. However, the site lists the assembly date as 1966 versus my book saying 1965. That is a discrepency that can be cleared up by other members of the site.
