In an 89 E350, 460 EFI, E4OD. I want to change from auto to manual trans, what wiring/computer changes will I have to make? I've never seen any info come up on the dash, as I sometimes do with our 98 mini van. Thanks for any help. Bob:-)
I have talked to a guy that did this swap. He said he just carefully taped the transmission wires (no connections) and it ran fine. I think the only thing the computer reads from the E40d is the temp and perhaps the TV pressure. All the other commections control shifting and converter lockup.
i have a 96 F-250 with E4OD problems and was thinking of going to manual. what is involved in this? dou you have to replace the petal assembly or just add to an existing bracket? should be a simple project... ?
Since you will probably be trying to stay stock, it should be an easy/but time consuming project. I can't say for sure on the pedal assy, but I think you have to swap the single for a dual assy. The pedals, and getting the clutch linkage in place should be the hardest part.
I'm trying to convert to a HD Spicer 5sp with a Spicer 4sp aux for the possible close gearing for towing. In the 5sp; 5th is 1/1, 4th is 1.15/1, 5th & under is 1.24/1, 4th & under is 1.42/1 & so on. With a
3.55 rear end, that gives me about 2350 at 60 mph & plenty of gears to get me moving in the first place. Bob
