Talking Some much needed progress today

Took advantage of a nice clear day to day. Had mid 60's temps, and I was able to get out and get alot accomplished on the F-800. Man, it's a ain to try and move a cab back into position up hill, all by your self. Must of been them wheaties I had for breakfast. They show up on my end, so I hope you all can see them.

Ok, let's see if they work now. I uploaded them into the gallery, and will try posting them here again.

Thanks guys. I also managed to get the donor for the 48 F-1 picked up. It's supposed to be another great day tomorrow, so I should be able to get all my air lines ran. If I get real ambitious, I will try and get the steering box moved back, and the front frame crossmember notched out too. Will have to see how the days goes. I am hoping to be able to take the kids to school in it before summer. At the current rate, and if the weather holds up, I may be able to accomplish that goal. I am going to continue with the semi-gloss black frame (the back half is flat, and the front half is semi-gloss) as it looks nicer. I am also going to paint the truck red again. The grille was painted red when the truck was at the fire company, and the original cream paint is still intact and glossy under the red, so I am going to try and get the red rubbed off and see if the cream will take a shine.

Your pictures are working for me now. That's a great looking rig,if it were any longer it would be in the street, lol. That Cat engine should really make that thing purr, are your plans to keep it as a fire rig or do you have plans of putting a fifth wheel on it? It's amazing how rust free it looks, congrats for picking up such a great project.

The only rust in the thing is where the fire fighters wet feet were on the drivers floor. There is absolutely not a spot of rust (oh sorry, a couple little spots of surface rust) anywhere. I spent a few months researching the fire apparatus that was on it. It was an off brand from back in the day, and it was only in businiess for a few years. The whole thing was poorly built (much to my disappointment). It would of required thousands of dollars, I don't have, in order to restore just the pumps and apparatus part of it.....would of been cheaper to just replace the whole thing. So, it's going to be a semi. It is going to have a gooseneck, and 5th wheel installed, and I am going to rework the end of the frame, and install a receiver hitch set up.

Got some more done yesterday. I relocated the steering box, starting stringing air line, and got my air brake foot valve mounted. I also set my scratch built wiring harness in place, and marked out the location for the roof mounted air horns. I got the frame painted up , and started mounting front end sheet metal. I still don't know if I am going to go with a one piece tilt nose, or if I am going to keep it like stock. If the weather holds, I may be driving it before too long.

You certainly had a good day, glad to hear it. Personally with a rig that sits as high as yours does I'd go with a forward flip front end or build yourself a catwalk to do any work under the hood. You should be motoring before you know it, congrats.
