im workin on a 1995 ford ranger that broke the timing belt today. put the belt on and just out of curiosity i thru the balancer back on the crank as is and hit the key just to make sure it was going to run. it backfired once and that was all it did. l lined up all the marks correctly even tried turning the cam and auxilary shaft (what does the auxilary shaft even do that it has to be timed?) 180degrees and it still will not run, the truck ran just fine up til it quit. now my question is what could have CAUSED the belt to break? something just isnt right, when i turn it over it acts like there is no compression in any of the cylinders
