superchip programer

1705 super chip, I have installed the towing program in my 2002 7.3 it seems to be alot more reponsive however the shifting is firm but a little rougher than before just what does this program do the the stock program and the engine? I will be hauling a fifth wheel and I know to not push it uphill I will monitor the trans temp untill I can get boost and exhaust gages.I only have a little bit of the blue ridge to go though and they didn't even cause me to shift out of overdrive but a couple of times. <!-- / message --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --><!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig -->

I ran the Superchip for 4 years without gauges. The tow tune will not get you in trouble, at least it didn't hurt me towing heavy loads in the mountains. I did put gauges in before I got the DP-TUNER and seen I could not get the EGT to 1200* climbing steep grades.

It would be a good idea to get a good turbo back 4" exhaust system, or at least a muffler delete. A good intake, 6637 is very well liked around here.

I feel I must say, drop the Superchip and get a DP-TUNER. I could not believe the difference between the two.

Do not rely on you stock tranny temp, its for show. I installed an Autometer set of gauges and I can tell you the stock tranny temp gauge is a POS.

Keep the RPM's up, its against your first instinct to do this but 2400-2800 is where you want to be when pulling ANY HILL when you do not have an EGT gauge...

I have a melted piston on my desk from my early 99 (smaller injectors) and a superchips tuner set on "tow performance" and using 1100* Red line post turbo pyro...

Cost me about 3k to fix back then. Get an EGT gauge now, or run it stock...
