Basic Super Duty Info

Hello Everyone, I know this sounds crazy but I could use some help with this. I am going to upgrade from an 08 F150 5.4, 3.73, SCAB, 4x4. I used it to pull my old travel trailer, but I bought a 5th wheel and I could use a bigger truck. What I would like try to understand is the biggest differences between an F250 and an F350 I have studied the tow guides and know there is basically only 200lbs difference in tow capacity when using the same engine and gear ratios. But I can't find out if the brakes are larger, spring packs, wheel bearings, front end components etc. Any help would be great.

The spacer blocks are a difference between the two and the 350 is also rated for a higher payload. Some states are stickier than others when enforcing that rule.

Rear axle shafts are slightly larger in the 350, four inch suspension blocks in the rear of the 350, overloads standard on 350 and optional on the 250 with the camper package. Biggest difference you'll see in the Ford specs is the payload is higher in the 350. GCWR is, like you said, within 200-300 pounds on the two. Depending on the weight of your fifth wheel, the 250 may be fine. While the GCWR is close on the two trucks, the higher payload and GVWR of the 350 leaves you a little more play when it comes to pin weights. Also, if I remember right, the spline count on the 250 axle is 35 and on the 350 it's 37.
