Glow Plug Relay Question

ok guys i did hold a screwdriver across the two post for about a minute and she fire right up no smoke nothing didnt even crank more than once, i replaced it with a cole hersee brand relay, once question tho what wire onpens the relay i have to small red once that where both hott, my truck was warm when i put it on soo i know it wasnt probaly getting a signal to open but how does it work what opens it??

The pcm sends a ground signal to one of the small posts.

ok soo when it needs it open it sends a ground to the one small post making the relay open?? soo it was normal with my truck warm that both small post are hott?? i mean i know the one large post is always hott but i was just worried with 2 small post being hott like i said my truck was plenty warm sooo i wouldnt need the glowplugs to start
