Red face Power Window Problem

2002 Expedition. Accidently engaged power window control to open driver's window when windows were frozen closed. Upon attempting to raise the window to a closed position, window closed crooked then fell into door. Able to manually pull glass up and engage track to maintain window in a closed position. I have followed directions, fuse is fine. Pulled door panel, don't know what to do next. Thought I had saved instuctions on this site related to next steps but now can't find them. Yes, I am a crazy female attempting to correct my accidental error....lol

Greetings, it is me Cat aka Seshat. I was able to visualize that the 2 metal brackets that hold/support the bottom of the glass were not in their original "factory" positions. It appears that these brackets were originally caulked or glued to the glass window...??? When I lower the window to a fully open position, one of the brackets is no longer connected to the glass. Should I re-caulk/glue them back to the glass??
Thanks in advance for any and all assistance, input and help. Cheers! Cat/Seshat

Yes, that should fix it up for you.

I recently had the same problem. You will need to re-silicone the glass to the u-shaped retainer.
First remove the door panel. Do a "search" on this procedure. Basically there are several screws holding it in place. The triangular trim piece at the top of the door next to the A-pillar is carefully removed by moving it up and out at the top(plastic retainers break esay). Next remove the power window switches module by prying carefully up. Unbolt door release handle. Screws are behind the triangle shaped trim, in the hole where you removed the door handle, and behind the lighted bezel at the bottom of the door. Door panel is then lifted straight up to remove.
Remove speaker and you should be able to access the front bracket which can be removed from the actuator with a 1/2" wrench. This makes cleaning and applying the silicone much easier.
Carefully clean door glass to remove old silicone and caulk from the fastening channels. I then ran a nice thick bead of silicone into the U-shaped brackets and immediately pushed it firmly into the glass. I used GE clear silicone caulk/adhesive. It is advsiable to let this cure overnight with the window in the fully up position. Over 50* is best.
Side note, while you have the panel off lubricate the actuator.
