Block heater problems?

I had a problem last year with the block heater tripping the GFI outlet. It would trip the GFI as soon as it was plugged in. I replaced the outlet and it still did it, so I brought it to the dealership and they plugged it in and they found it was a bad cord in the truck so they replaced it.

Now something new started this week. The truck will be plugged in for 2-2.5 hours and then it trips the GFI, then i reset the GFI and it is fine for a while again. Any ideas on what is going on here.

Thanks for any input

-Dan

I dont know but my first excursion burned as well as my garage and 1971 bronco. fire started in the block plug area or cord. i would not use it until you find the problem.

you have to check how much amperage the heater is drawing. I think the heater is rated a 1,000 watts.
