4.2 oiling system

Hi everyone. I have a fairly new (rebuilt) 13 k 97 4.2 with no oil reaching the lifters but 70 psi on a mecanical gauge in the oem idiot light location. This problem has also shown up and gone away last week twice. Now its back Im thinking the oil pump relief valve is sticking open, but is the oil preassure fitting before or after the relief valve? any help would be appreciated, Thanks

hi, just checked with the old casting and the relief valve is set into it as an interigal part. the casting is where the oil pump is fastened onto. with the oil pump removed i was able to move the pressure relief valve off its seat and check that is able to move freely under its spring pressure.
i am unable to remember where the take-off is for the oil gauge but if it comes off the oil pump then the pressure is made from the pump then up to the oil gallary to the pressure relief valve.
all a bit iffy but hope it helps. bokker.
