Progress update

Hi all, from the great, frozen northern minnesota area!......finally have gotten a break in my busy seasonal constuction job,{winter lay-off} to enable my son and I to get busy with our 51 f-1 project......we have been doing alot of research and planning on what we need/want to do and as most of you know the list keeps growing, every time you turn around! After we finally got the truck home in sept. we found out it's a 51, not a 52, which is no big deal and it is a 5 star deluxe model that had a flathead v-8 and 3 on the tree. B-4 we began the tear down process, we spent about a month getting our garage set up by covering the ceiling and walls with 6-mil poly, {to keep the cold out and the heat in!}aquiring a new 60gal.air comp, oxy/acetelene torch set-up, and a whole bunch of new tools and various other "needed" equipment, that 'ol dad has been waiting on for over 30 years! ......We recently started the dissasembly process and it's been going pretty well.....the entire box/rear fenders ect. have been removed and it looks like everything will be replaced with new parts...... we started on the front clip, which is in way better shape than the box ect. and will have that all removed/dissassembled this week. The fenders will need the majority of the work, but are fixable. Then
it's onto the cab for the same treatment, new floors for sure and lots'a cleaning, repairing and replacing to make her like new again!.....Once we get the cab off, we'll be working on the frame as well, getting it cleaned, prepped
and ready for the new MII front suspension, new motor/trans mounts, and the 9 inch rear ect.........We got a ways to go, but it sure is cool to be back working on a "real" vehicle again!! {especially with my son!} Will be posting more as we go, I'm sure we will have a few questions we'll need help with! Will post some pics, on our progress once I can figure out how!

Also a welcome to the site, I’m going to be doing the same project as you soon, (1951 f1) so I will be following with great interest.

What motor mounts do you plan on using? After reading one post here I am starting wondering if there will be interference between the MMII cross member and a tube type under oil pan motor mount for a 460 that I wanted to use because of the extra frame support it provided. <O</O

We are planning on using, weld to the frame type mounts.......seen a couple styles available, but can't off the top of my head remember where??......that's why I have to write things down!......I know with the MII kits available, most come with boxing plates to "stiffen" the frame up....not sure if the tube type mount would interfear with the cross member or not.......strangely, I was planning on posting a question about this very subject....I'm sure the manufacturer of the MII unit would know.
