Your problem didn't really sound like loose connectors to me Rob, but I applaud you for jumping into this. Low or improper oil can cause all sorts of issues, so it's best to rule that out since the truck is new. I've seen where the push the pedal to the floor trick would get it started with a faulty IPR, but the IPR is kind of pricey, and since it's used to control high oil pressure, we need to make sure we have the right oil to begin with. Since we don't like to see people just start throwing parts (money) at problems, it's best to start off with the simple stuff first.
One thing I would recommend you spending money on is a spare CPS. This little sensor has been the achilles heel of the 7.3. Since it's a good idea to have a spare, you might want to try replacing that and keeping the one in the truck as your back up. A failing CPS can cause some strange symptoms, or just leave you stranded on the side of the road. Don't get one from the parts store. Ford sells them for under $30, or a black one from International does better (but costs more). The CPS is under recall from Ford, but if you have a black CPS in your truck, I'd lean towards keeping it since the replacement has caused some trucks to have a rougher idle.

As for the oil, any of the big brands will work. I've been having oil analysis done at a lab on some different brands in my truck and all look good so far. Rotella, Delo, Valvoline, Mobil Delvac, they all work well. Rotella does make the engine sound a little more like a rattling diesel when you first run it during cold weather, but they all run fine.
I'm not saying an oil change will fix your problem, but since you don't know what's in there, or how long it's been in there, I'm just saying it's the first place I'd start. Unplugging the ICP and attempting to start as Ray mentioned is the first test I would try after the oil change.

When you change the oil, if you have a way to do this, you may want to change the oil in the HPOP reservior. That is the rectangle box on the top front of your engine. There is an allen head plug on the top of it that can be removed. Getting the oil out requires a suction device of some sort. There is about 1 qt of oil in there. When filling it up, it should come to about 3/4 to 1 inch from the top. You can't overfill it. The excess drains down into the crankcase. This step is not necessary, but a good idea if you can do it.

I can't thank you guys enough. Truck is back up and running - and running good. Shimmed the UVCH's, changed the Fuel Filter and changed the oil. Took a little bit to get her started, but she is up and running and happy again. I can load up the sleds and head up north in a couple of days! Thanks again - and as you can see - I've became a supporter of the site!!! I will be on here lurking often....
