Hey numberdummy, are the phone numbers you gave me for the red white and blue tailgate emblems? The emblems I need go on the quarter panels under the F150 emblems. I'll probably have to do some junk yard scavenging to get those I take it! And thanks for the info on the tailgate - I just hope I can find a tailgate with the cargo cleats on it!

I believe the Trailer Special is different from the standard models because:
a) the big 460 and C6 engine and trans package
b) the trans cooler
c) cruise control
d) cargo cleats on the bedsides and tailgate
e) factory installed trailer wiring harness

The body is Bahama Blue and the roof is Wimbledon White. The rims are 15" Eagle Alloys that I bought off a buddy for $75 and the tires are Coursers with taller sidewalls in the back and smaller ones in the front for some rake action If you want to know dimensions let me know and I'll post them.

Of course, being an Arizona truck the steering wheel is cracked in multiple spots. Finding an original cruise steering wheel is a major pain in the nuts. All the repro companies have are the standard non-cruse wheels and horn pads. So my plan is to buy a Grant steering wheel and fabricate a gauge panel under the ashtray with an accessory vacuum gauge and rocker switches wired to the cruise control. Bad idea? Good idea?
The Trailer Special emblem used 1974/76 is not the same as the 1977/79 emblem, what I listed the info for.

EDIT: See photo above for the 1977/79 emblem.

D3TZ9900064A .. Cargo Tie Down Hook (cargo cleat) / Obsolete

The cargo cleats were used from 1973 thru 1996 on a wide variety of models, so they are not exclusive to Trailer Specials.

I just did a search for these, there are well over 100 still available across the US at Ford dealers.

The nearest dealer to you that has stock is: Anderson Ford-Mercury in Clinton IL who has three.

Here's something else you may not be aware of:

D5TZ13341B .. Turn Signal Switch / This switch has been Obsolete for over 20 years.

Fits: 1975/77 F100/350's with Cruise Control ONLY. Does not fit anything else.

Only one Ford dealer in the US still has some of these switches:

Clevenger Ford in Porterville CA.

I re-read the emblem info you posted and I understand it now. I've also seen the tie down cleats in a few catalogs but my only concern is placement on the the tailgate - I know they go in the lip at the top, but I'm not sure how far apart they were spaced from each other.

Now that you mention the turn signal switch, mine is actually worn out and doesn't lock into place when you activate it. I pulled a turn signal switch from a non-cruise truck to put in mine, but my question is, do you know if it will it work since I'm relocating the cruise control switches to under the dash and putting in a Grant steering wheel?

Thanks for the help and useful info!

The steering wheel itself can be restored without a whole lot of work. POR 15, Eastwood and other companies have kits to restore your steering wheel. POR 15's run's around $60.

I almost opted for restoring my wheel, but it is cracked and blown out of shape so bad, the horn pad won't even fit in it anymore. Not to mention the cruise horn pad's broken and I can't find one of those either.

I cannot tell you about the T/S switch because I've never known anyone to use something else.

I know that no one reproduces the Cruise steering wheel, but the same wheel was also used on 1975/77 Econolines with Cruise.

The non Cruise wheel (D4TZ3600A) has been reproduced by Dennis Carpenter and fits: 1971/77 F100/350's, 1973/77 Bronco's and 1975/77 Econolines.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Cruise Control switch is one piece and includes a wire plug, even tho it appears to be two separate parts when looking at the two buttons (OFF-ON & SET-ACCEL-COAST).

If the Cruise Control switch is bad, I've found some of these in the past for other members. The Cruise horn pad and etc. was used thru 1986 on other models.

Ford updated the part numbers, but the parts are the same.

The difference between the cruise and non cruise wheels are the contact rings at the base of the wheel. The non cruise wheel just has one for the horn and the cruise wheel has three for the horn and cruise connections.

I suppose I'll have to experiment with turn signal switches when I get the new aftermarket wheel.

I've heard of people putting the 80's 15" Bronco cruise wheels on 75-77 pickups with cruise but you loose the turn signal self-cancel feature for some reason.

I spoke with the partsguy at Clevenger Ford when I first discovered they had the switches.

There was no listing for this switch on any obsolete parts locator site or the Ford in-house dealer parts locator system for years.

Then one day.....here was the part number.

They want a C note for the switch, which I consider cheap compared to what some other obsolete T/S switches sell for.

btw: I'm the EDITING king of FTE, so it's a good idea to read my posts several times.

After typing info, I remember other things to add, and sometimes I subtract some info.

My cruise switches are actually intact, it's just the horn pad that's destroyed - some nugget broke it in half and broke the ends off of it by the switches.

I take it a "C-note" is a hundred bucks? That's not bad at all. Although I'm not planning on buying one unless my not-yet-installed non-cruise replacement switch doesn't work with the Grant steering wheel.
