E40B Tranny Problem
So if it is you will need to have the codes read or buy a more expensive reader then the Innova 3145, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Some places read codes for free.
I bought one of these a few years back for the OBD2 systems, use it with my laptop but works with any computer. Cheap by comparison to others back then and works on all makes, works great.
OBDII Diagnostic ScanTools and code-readers
I got the local parts place to read the codes with their OBD2 reader and it turned up the following...
Code: P1506
Manufacturers Control Vehicle Speed
Idle Speed Control
Auxillary Inputs
I purchased the Vehicle Speed Sensor (Tranny Mounted) for under $17.00 and plan to replace it this weekend. Do you have any other thoughts or suggestions for me to look at or replace?
Thanks,
Tom
Did you get a speed control code with it, you didn't post a number?
On the IAC, (Idle air control) sometimes cleaning them works, remove it and flush the valving area with carb cleaner (don't allow the cleaner to go into the solenoid end). Put it back on and try it, if the idle is still uncontrollably high or erratic I'd replace it.
Thanks,
Tom
It's been quite a while (over a month) since my tranny gave me the problem with the overdrive light flashing a code. It was happening several times a week and since it got really cold here in Michigan, the problem has gone away. I now want to rule out the problem being caused by a bad torque convertor, internal part failure, etc, and am wondering if any of you guys would agree with me that the problem more than likely is a connection problem with the wiring to the trans?
Thanks for your input,
Tom
