Heater Problems

Hello All,

I've been having this problem for about a week now. I have a 1999 Exp. When I turn on the truck, I start to get cold air for about a few seconds, but then freezing cold air shoots out, no matter what temp I select, or where I route the air. I get hot air if I'm driving really fast, like over 100kph (60 MPH). Even at that speed the air isn't as hot as it should be. Once I turn the heat on and it initally starts to blow out hot air, I then hear a loud thud and the cold air starts to come out. I'm hoping it's not the blend door, that it's just themostat.

Any guess what it might be?

That is what it sounds like. But... check the heater hoses to see if there is a difference in temperatures? I believe that Fords always has the water/coolant running through the heater core no matter what the temp selector is set to. If there is a big temperature difference then I would guess a blocked heater core. Also check your antifreeze level. A low level will cause problem like you described. Is the engine getting up to normal temperature? If not it would be a stuck thermostat. Check the easy stuff first. Good Luck

I have a 99 Eb expo with the digital electronic control, and for the past few days I have noticed that when I lower the temp, put the ac on max or set the temp in auto the temp coming out ls hot, Would this be the blend damper?Any feedback will help thanks
