Pace Edwards bedlocker problem
A couple of times I went to use the bedlocker, it refused to budge. The control box and motor would click. I thought it was just jammed up, so the first time I worked on it, I kicked the cover from underneath and it started working. A week later it only retracted half way. It did close up when I drove home over a dirt road.
I took the clamps loose, wiggled and hemmed and hawed to no luck. I got it a part, took the cover off the rails (it was locked open), and tried the remote. The gears would not spin. The control box was putting out the correct voltages at the correct time.
There is a lock motor on the main motor and it has failed. I removed the lock motor from the main motor by pulling the three screws. Once off, there were three screws on the inside that let the cover fall off. With the cover off, the spring pushed the lock plates out. I left the lock plates and spring out and reassembled the motors on the cover. Success, it spins the gears now on command.
Tomorrow I'll figure out a way to get the cover back in the rails and let the motor return it to the canister. Pace Edwards Tech help was a lot of help in this. They said I could run without the motor until I got a new one. With the stripped lock covering the motor, I should be able to run as long as I want.
