I was banned from a law enforcement forum when my reputation surpassed that of all
the moderators, administrator and owner. People were hitting me up left and right.

How do you determine if you have rep points, either positive or negative, and from whom they came?

Near the top of any page (on this one it's just above the "Post Reply" button) there is a link titled "User CP".

Click on that and you'll see the list of any rep points you've received, comments posted to you (if any), and a link to the post for which you received the rep points.

When you receive rep points, the only way you'll know is by checking your User CP frequently, because there is no type of auto notification from the board.

FYI, some user's rep points given don't count. The square will be purple. Guess you get better reputation from users that have been here awhile.

It's all explained in more detail in the General forum. Just search REP POINTS and the thread should come up.

When I first came to FTE (7 YEARS ago!?!!) the software that we used had little stars next to your name. Most you could get was 5 and they were in a circle like a 5-star general. I always liked that. Pus, you could read all the comments given to you. Seems that the way it is now you only get the last few or so.

How do you check your rep? Is it possible?

 

Click the 'User CP' in the navigation bar at the top, you'll see all of you point info near the bottom of that page - I just sent some points your way.

There a lot fo folks that never go to the UserCP - I use it all of the time to track threads (if you check 'Subscribe', then it will be there) and I have my favoriate forums subscribed there (SD, Excusrion, V10, Towing) - makes it easy to find them and I don;t have to scroll down looking for them. I just bookmark my 'UserCP' page.

I feel so used and dirty all of the sudden - did I enjoy it as much as you did?

Joe i was gonna rep you but I gotta spread 'em around a bit. I guess here is as good a place as any.

BTW guys when you leave reps also leave a reason or a note. That will be worth more points than if you didn't.

I have also heard that points are worth more from the ones that have been here longer or have more posts. Now I think about it I believe it is more posts. Anyway I am not sure on that one but I do know that the message thing means more.
