transfer case question
well I am starting another thread about my search for a 4x4.I think I have found my truck.its a 1978 F250.351m 4 speed.nice solid truck,good frame,southern box,nice cab and all.the thing is when I looked at this truck I never noticed what was in it for a transfercase.I was on the phone with the owner an hour or so ago and he said it only has 2wd and 4wd no low range.just the two possitions.and the case is mounted directly to the trans.what would that be.I know what a 203,205,208 and 231 are but I haven't heard of one of these,and I am sure someone on here has.

well the 2 trucks I have had with the 203 had from top to bottom 4hi loc,4 hi nuetral,4low,4low loc.this one only has 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive acording to the owner.now betty I may be wrong I'm no expert on these trucks by any means.and I also do remember it having manual hubs as well.

thanks ranger for confirming my thery,nice guy this fella is but how bright is still an unsolved question.as far as I knew they only ever came with a 203 or 205.and with the manual hubs it would have to be the 205 unless the 203 has had that kit installed.thanks again ranger.
