not another shift cable question :)
98 f150 4x4 with e4od/ or 4 r100 trans.... not sure which one i have. I dont have a square oil pan and i have a drain plug. Anyhow, shift cable is starting to pull harder, is there any way of saving it by lubing it up, or should i break down and buy a new cable?

anybody saved one of these cables? how terribly bad is it? I should probably just replace it now before water and crud get inside the cable and freeze up leaving me stranded.
