okay. so a further update of my problem. Tekonsha has not sent the wiring loom and the problem persisted. I took my truck into the alternator shop to have it diagnosed and he replaced the alternator (3rd time) under warranty saying it was done, although it didn't smell burnt. He also said that without a doubt the trailer braking unit was creating a draw that was not normal and was more than likely the cause of the problem. He also said that that is the last warranty he will do on my truck since I have so much ***t installed on it?! See my signature and tell me it's working overtime?! Not that I blame him. So I returned home with the truck and got some baseline readings, then immediately disconnected the brake controller from the truck wiring to get more baseline readings. This is how they played out. Bear in mind that the truck has not been started once since returning home just so I can see how much "bleed" there is. I'm curious if this seems like a normal amount of voltage bleed to you guys? B/c normal is what I'm after, not another alternator!

Saturday 2/7
Morning 12.60v
Afternoon 12.51v
1640 hrs 12.39v (took reading, then d/c brake controller from truck)
1650 hrs 12.54v

Sunday 2/8
0700 12.47v
1000 12.45v
I noticed that the voltage magically went up once, which didn't make sense, so I am now taking multiple readings each time and taking the highest of the readings that I record.

One other note. the repair guy noticed my exposed wiring for my tranny gauge and made a comment about that. So I also got some heat shrink wiring cover and placed that to prevent any loss, although that seemed trivial to me. This was done Saturday afternoon before the 1640 readings. Do you think much voltage loss could have occurred from this? The exposed wiring was near the carpet of the truck and sometimes under my floor liner. See picture below.

and Thanks. hope this provides some closer or makes sense to someone. Just looking for a confirmation this sounds right.

Remember that though the alternator is charging at this time, the glow plugs are also on when #5 reading was taken.

I think the numbers during #1 through (at least) #7 are all pretty normal.
