I have a paid for low mileage 2004 E350 w/ Salem Kroger 4x4 conversion (2007 F350 coil sprgs) with 5.4L 4R100 w/ 4.11 gears. Is it at all reasonable to pursue finding someone that could do an engine swap to a 6.0 PSD. To do an engine swap like this what else would be reqd (i.e. fuel tank?, exhaust?, etc.)? I would like to travel towing a toy hauler and want more power. Any experienced thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated! Brian

Sounds like it would be terribly expensive to me; I think you'd be better off either hopping up the 5.4 (will a supercharger fit on a van? Maybe not...) or swapping to a gas V-10 if you really need the additional power. The diesel would need a whole bunch of new subsystems, and the engine itself is likely going to cost a pretty penny. Might a move to 4.56 gears work?
If the van wasn't a 4x4, you'd be much better off just selling the van and buying another with a bigger motor, but the 4x4 conversion would be expensive to duplicate as well.
You've got a very expensive toy already. Switching from Gas to Diesel power will cost about $10,000 more, if you do it yourself. And you will probably be unhappy with the results. That converts to a lot of gas and upgrade parts for your current set up.
Think about selling and starting over with a factory Diesel setup if you want one that bad.
Whats an 04 4X4 Van worth? Been thinking of getting another one myself. PM me with the details if interested.
