Engine swap
I pulled the motor (4.0L w/ auto trans) to install a new piston. Now when the bell housing bolts are tight I can not crank the motor from the front crank. If I loosen the bolts 2 turns I can crank the motoe as normal (heads are not installed at this time. Everything is lined up and looks good but it binds up when the bolts are tight. Any Ideas? Help, never had this problem before !!

I rotated the converter and it went into place (I think) but I still have the bind when all bolts are tight. I checked the flexplate and it is ok - not bent. I have to have about .030" gap all around the trans before the binding goes away. I am at a total loss as to the reason.
