I would love to live further north, but the pay is great here, but the taxes are off the chart.

A hint as to where your working Sheldon, I sense some good discounts coming up!
I always thought that US taxes where lower than our`s Steve, especially in states where there is no sales taxes. We`ve got both federal and provincial taxes to the tune of 10%.

our sales tax is 7%, my property tax is $8200/year, I usually figure around 24% to be taken out of my paycheck for state, federal, Unemployment Insurance, and social security.

I work at a place called Ryeson, we deal with alot of different types of tubing, round/flat bar, sheeting, including diamond plating.

Was already thinking about ordering up some material to fabricate an aluminum hot rod car frame, but I would have to learn how to weld aluminum first!

Awesome, I`ve always wanted to work at a place like that. I like messing around with steel alot better than wood though both have their places.

Yeah I hear ya, I like working with metal too.

The pay is great, the hours are great, (allows me to take my night classes with ease) but the job is really alot slower paced then I am used too.

Ah well, this will decrease my boredom slightly either until spring time, or next year if I get into university!

Sorta, the woman isnt really interested in keeping that going for much longer. She wants to have her summers completely off, and shes worked hard to get that so....

Kinda throws a damper in things but oh well. For now the hoe will be a weekend/holidays extra cash type deal.

The hoe doesnt cost me anything but fuel, oil changes, and very low maintenance, and we've paid it off over and over again, so I really cant complain!

Who knows though, she seems to change her mind alot so...

I guess it all depends on what you want to do and your life style. Mine was the Bobcat, I always really liked it and usually time off could be planned out abit if it really had to be.

Yeah you bet.

The career path that I may be choosing would allow for pretty much the same pay lifestyle, only a monday to friday work week, and overtime would be minimal.

Downsides, id be working for someone, till I was just about ready to retire, then i would probably be up there in seniority lol.

Another downside is the 4 years of university. Plus engineering is not easy schooling either. Theres a reasons some of those damn engineers get paid over 6 figures a year after a few years of service!

Like I say, who knows. Gotta make the woman happy as well!
