02 f250 auto shift flare/slipage?

Ive been having a problem with the tranny when shifting to 2nd or 3rd it feels like its slips and the rpms clime and it feels like its not pulling as much and then is hits the gear a little hard then it normally shifts. what causes this and what is the solution?

Transmission controller / torque converter lock/unlock

Im about to order a valve body, John woods or BTS to sure yet. Tony from totaldieselperformance recommended the BTS. and im looking into Trans torque converter controllers like the BD power torqloc. which trans controller should i go with. from what ive read the BD is great it automatically locks the TC at 30mph and keeps it locked. so i think that would solve my problem.

BD Power - Product: TorqLoc

or the autoloc

BD Power - Product: AutoLoc

I would have the transmission scanned for codes first.

There isn't much sense springing for a valve body if the transmission is toast.

Definitely go with the Torque Loc, the Auto loc will only work with our exhaust brake. The 30MPH engagement speed you mentioned is adjustable as well.

Let me know if you have any question.
