The Ford part number on the distributor is located on the side just below the cap, opposite side of the vacuum port. The number has 3 parts. The first is a date code then the basic part number and then the revision. The one in my hand is B9CF 12127 K. The first to digits B9 gives the the year of manufcture 1959. B is for the decade 50 and 9 is the year in that decade 59. Since you have a 1960 truck you should expect to see a B9 or C0 at the begining if it is the original part for your engine. If it has been replaced it could be about any thing from 1954 to 1964. Just to let you know, if the part number is earlier than 1957 then you have a vacuum advance only distributor, no mechanical advance. That would not be good and could be why the Pertronix did not fit. I installed a Pertronix on my 1959 distributor and it fit just fine. Just as the directions said.

If it turns out you need to replace the distributor to a later year, let me know, I have a good used 1963 distributor I will sell cheap.

If the bushings are in good shape, I could use one for my 64 292. If he doesn't want it.
