I pulled up to a gas station and the truck shut off. I tried to start it back up and nothing. No glow plug light no gauges, cant roll up windows, no winshield wipers, no lights. The truck wouldnt even crank over. I had to run a hot wire from the battery to the injection pump and jump the starter silinoid so that i could get the truck started and go home.

I would check all your wires...Pull off any loom thats covering your wires, and maybe even check wires that may be not connected very well, solder all wires dont use wire connectors, only asking for trouble...

There is something wrong in the wires somewhere, that r you may of blown a fuse...

Sounds like the main fusible link burnt up. you probly have some melted wires coming off the positive cable on the starter solinoid as that is were power for just about everything comes from.

I smelt the start solinoid and it smelt burnt. I figured that is what it is. Why would it burn up though? All the wires look good to and from the pump so the only thing i can figure is the starter solinoid is bad.

thanks

Are you sure it is the starter relay?

There are about 6 fusible links right around the starter relay.
Any of them could have melted.

The starter relay and glow plug relay are the main power distribution points on the 86.
