engine swap

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-Jan-02 AT 11:36 PM (EST)]It's not a bad swap. The tranny will bolt up easy enough, you need to change out your frame motor mounts and radiator. I swapped in a 351W for a 300 I6 (very similar blocks).

Make sure you use the flywheel from the 302, as the 300 is balanced differently.

engine swap

On the engine swap you did, 300 to 351, did you have to change motor mounts or move them. I was just given a 1989 Ford 302 EFI engine complete with harness and all goodies, was thinking about putting in my 65 Ford F-100 Truck with a 300. Also on this engine could I pull off all efi stuff and carburate it

engine swap

I don't know about the EFI stuff, but I just put a 302 in my 65 that had a 300. I used the steel engine stands from a 74 302 F100, but any will work between 70 and 79 as long as the truck came with a small block. I used rubber motor mounts from a 70 F100 and it was a bolt in swap. There are an extra set of holes in the crossmember where the factory would use if the truck was a 352 version. On the passenger side, you use the rear set of holes, and you will have to drill one hole, which is easy after you bolt the other three in place. On the drivers side, you use the foreward set of holes, and there you have to drill one hole also. On my transmission crossmember, I had to drill new holes, but I used a T5 and they are longer. I also used a cable clutch if anybody wants to know how to do this.
