Idle problem...

ok, I have a 92 F150 w/ 351/E4OD. Lately, when I do a cold start and shift from Park, the truck will idle way down and go dead. I've also noticed that it will occasionally go dead at traffic lights when it's still cold. There's no check engine light, last time I had one I replaced the EGR valve (about 8 or 9 months ago). Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

My truck did that and it was the Idle Air Control valve, but mine did it when it was warm too.

Just a thought, you could always pull the connector off of the IAC and measure how many ohms resistance you get between the two terminals. My manual says between 7-13 ohms will tell you its good. You could also trying gently cleaning it with O2 safe cleaner...

Good luck

I was thinking the IAC could be the culprit. I'll check the resistance. Had considered the coolant temp sensor too. It'll be the second test.
