where are some good places to go wheelin at?

There are a lot of wheelin' places - mostly depends on how far you are willing to drive. Lots of trails in the local mountains, you can drive for days in the desert, go up to Pismo or Glamis if you like sand.

If you want mud, San Gabriel OHV area hands down. Its in the fill basin of the San Gabriel Dam, how much more mud do you want?
