Carb Question

I have a '66 F100 with a 300 and the stock 1bbl carb. I have had a lot of problems with replacement carbs and leaks (I've gone thru 3 in the last year and a half). For what its worth, I bought the carb(s) from NAPA. The leaks have been in different places on each carb. Not only is it bad for gas mileage, it's not very comforting to see fuel dripping on the manifold. My questions are- What do I need to do to stop working on the carb all the time? Is there a good 1bbl out there or do I need to convert it to a 2bbl? I'm looking for the least expensive, most stock alternative.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Get yourself a carb rebuilt by Holly. Holly does excellent rebuilds on all carberators. O'Reilly's sells them.

Here's the usual problem with rebuilt carbs, when were they rebuilt?

The 1965/72 F100/350 Ford 1V carbs (a few of these trucks also use Holley IV's) are essentially the same, but no other Ford after 1972 uses these two carbs.

This means that a rebuilt carb may sit on a shelf for many years before being sold.

The newest truck that uses one a these carbs is 46 years old, so there's very little demand for these carbs today.

Gaskets dry out - it's a simple as that.

Buy a new carb tune up kit, that'll usually do the trick...no more leaks.
