Dunno...mebbe he used the Spanish word = tourista.

A line from the film "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance," directed by John Ford in 1963.

The forum software deletes spaces when there is more than 1 of them. You need to use the Carriage Return to separate paragraphs. (the Enter key)

He and others captured were later executed by the order of Mexican General Antonio de Santa Anna, who was also El Presidente de Mexico.
The theory of Crockett having not died in the Battle of The Alamo has never been proven. There is actually more evidence to show that he did die in the final minutes of the battle.

It is a fact if you walk around with your eyes open and talk to people around here
it is pretty easy to see things are changing in this country and a visit to Miami will
give you a clue to what is happening all over sooner than later if we aren't careful!!

I tell you during 4th of july and new years there is mighty big calibers being sprayed
into the air here, and if you check the ammo shelves at the Walmart there is a lack
of 40 caliber and 9 mm ammo from them!! Someone is stocking up or using quite a
bit of it, Probably a bit of both if you watch the news around here. I don't want to
scare you come here for vacation the D world needs the money and the tourist areas
are usually left alone by the thugs except for car burgalary since they know alot of
tourists are leaving computers and cameras in cars.

Hey look at that!! a paragraph!!

It is a alot of things working together and really the whole world is changing and
we basically did the same thing here against England. They were the world super
power for a long time and had colonies all over the world and then we supplanted
them and our dollar became the new standard for trade, Now we are on that decline
the decline of our moneys power and the Power gain of the Eu euros and it is looking
like it is the coming standard of trade.(business' in new york are accepting it)
The countries where we have bases and little else are trying to force us out and
China wants us out of their entire area the Phillipines were getting uppity since we
pulled a lot of our men out of there so we started flying some stealth bombers and
other planes in there so we had more of a prescence, Which is really strange since
the stealths have always taken off from our soil and flew to their bombing missions
and then returned here to the USA so it kind of makes me wonder! The Phillipines
are a hot bed of muslim activity and they are recruiting the people there left and
right.

It is a basic human nature to want to root for the under dog and topple those who
have the most power and when you take the position of power you are going to have
those that will try to take you down. It doesn't matter if you are the ceo of a major
corporation or the corporation itself, a top athelete or the first one from the stop
light, or you post a not so popular opinion on a message board!! It is just what happens and we shouldn't be suprised when there are those from within or the outside
who want to change how this country is. It is why there is the framework that the
forefathers made and based this country on, They learned from the mistakes of England and didn't want to see a repeat of england with their new baby but it seems
like that is where we are heading with the taxes, foreign policies, corporate policies,
and the way we conduct warfare. A well timed terrorist attack and a call to suspend
elections and we may well have a dictatorship that has a family heir component since
bush #2 (haha# 2) will hold the throne/white house(parallel w/england intentional)
captive because of our supposed fear of another threat of attack and he could always
hand it to his brother or another relative and there we go headlong into a monarchy
Psuedo royalty setup.
It can happen and has happened in the past, it could almost
happen overnight if the media sensationalizes the attack and just blurbs on the hold
up of the election. It is a possibility and marshall law will be enacted at the same time
and no you will not have much to say about the whole thing!!

I've found that Wikipedia is a poor source for anything...it's rife with errors.

The last time I was at the Alamo, the docents there espoused the same theory of Crockett's "tourist" lament.

Stayed across the street at the Menger Hotel, another historic venue in San Antonio. The Mengers bar is where TR met with the Rough Rider recruits for the first time.

Then there's the Buckhorn Saloon and a branch of the Texas Rangers Museum...lotta things to see and do there for an historian.

Lemme tell you a little something, Numberdummy (and anyone else who cares to listen)....

Regarding Crockett.....

WHO CARES!?!!!

I think that any man who stayed inside that fort, knowing that the Mexicans ran up the no-quarter flag, and that no reinforcements were coming, and STILL decided to stay instead of trying to sneak out, showed ballz enough. Anyone got a problem with that?.....

Who the hell cares if Crockett died swinging his rifle butt, or died of his wounds soon after the battle ended, or was executed after trying to make like he was a 'tourist' (Jesus, Numberdummy....You can't believe that this was anything other than made-up, or bulls--t on Crockett's part......Did they even HAVE tourists back then?).....He stayed and fought and that's that.....

Now if he WAS captured (like YOU seem so ready to believe, rather than the 'white-washing' history).....You think maybe he was wounded at least? What would YOU do or say if surrounded by a ring of pissed-off Mexicans who just lost a thousand of their compadres, with fixed bayonets and ready to skewer you---and Santa Anna, the Napoleon of the Western Hemisphere who had no problem at all killing prisoners....

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'm honest to admit that, given similar circumstances, I might have said..... "Hey....the battle's over....I'm caught, I'm shot, the fort is gone....why play hero"?........."Wait a minute, I'll tell 'em I'm a tourist"!!!....Maybe I can buy my way out by telling them a great salsa recipe and showing them a picture of my see-ster"!.....

Davy Crockett was born about 20 minutes from my house...

I don't know what that has to do with anything, just thought I'd share...

There comes a time when self preservation becomes the most logical choice, and that can't logically be criticized when your only other choice is certain death.

Yes there has been tourists for a long time, Most Americans have a UScentric
view of the world like the creation of america was also the creation of those
other countries back in the old world!! There were rich folks coming to these
shores and seeing the old west just to say they saw the new world and then
took the long sea voyage back. It only makes business sense to the captains
that were trudging across the atlantic sure some timber and whatnot was also
brought back to the old world but having a set of paying passengers going to
and from would be very smart and I am sure there was a cruise booking company
somewhere in england, spain, portugal etc. etc.
English people were touring in
indo china for along time and elsewhere. We as a people are destined to want to
see that which we have never seen and will do about anything to see it Fly in big
metal birds, boat, car or even walk if they had to. Amerigo vespucci and vikings
could be considered tourist after the first few voyages after the new world was
discovered they didn't stop sailing because they found it, They kept doing it to
see things and document them to say hey I went there and drew this picture(kind
of like a old time kodak)

I'll keep it under 5 sentences and it won't be that hard to read anymore.
I am pretty sure noone reads after the first few anyways since add is so prevalent.

I think it has to do with his screen resolution since your post takes up about 2/3 of the screen on my computer.

The funny part is his last post takes up about the same amount of screen. He should have come up with a more wordy reply.
