rear end width?

I posted this earlier (under a different category) but I did not get a clear answer my 48 f1 has an 80's nine inch rear end. It is 3 inches wider than the original rear end thus putting my rear close to the outer edge of the finder. QUESTION:CAN I PURCHASE WHEELS THAT WILL BRING EACH REAR TIRE ABOUT 1 1/2 INCHES CLOSER TO THE FRAME?. IF SO WHO SELLS THEM?

You want to look at a rim catalog and see what backspacing they have in the rim
style you like and measure what you have on there now to see what difference you
will end up with. Are the shocks mounted in the stock loction? If so you are not
getting the ride control you should have!! Moving them further out to the end or
getting stiffer valving will help the handling.
