cooling down an e40d

my brand new e40d unit is running really hot, without being pushed. i have a descent sized cooler, and new fluid when it was installed, my question is, how can this thing be running so hot? do i need a larger cooler? i think im going to hook up a tempgauge for now.

fyi, i pulled a torque converter slippage code, and a trans fluid temp hot code as well. this is with everyday traffic and O/D off.

That is exactly why your tranny is getting hot... (torque conver slipping)

If it is new and has not been abused, I would venture to say that it could be defective.

I would get on the horn with the company that you ordered it from and have the discussion of them replacing it...
