After getting all my other codes cleared with the misfires and 02 sensors and the truck running very well, today I am backing out of the driveway and the check engine light comes on again. Been off for a few weeks now and this time I get the scanner out and I get a code P1451. It says it is a manufacturer specific powertrain code and that is all it tells me. Any ideas what set this code and what the problem may be? I have deleted the code for now to turn off the light but am a little curious as to what this code may be. Thanks
The PCM has detected an open circuit between it and the canister vent solenoid. A fuel cap will not cause this. You should have 12v at the canister vent with the key on and the pcm gives it ground when it activates the solenoid. You may also have an open solenoid.
Where do I look for the canister vent and the solenoid? I cleared the code and within a few seconds it came back on again with the same code P1451. Is this a hard fix if the solenoid is bad or the canister vent is bad?
