cold starting issues
Hey guys, Its been really cold the last couple of days and when i went to start my truck the other day it just "tried to start". After trying for a couple of times I pumped the gas pedal and it did turn over and run. However when i took my foot off the gas pedal it immidiatly died. It did this twice! The third time i left my foot on the gas and revved it for about 20 seconds and then i could feel the computer kick in and give it enough gas to idle. Just wondering if this is common with the v-10. Since it is fuel injected Ive always heard you dont pump the pedal but thats the only way this one will start. And only when its below zero outside and not plugged in! Any tips or solutions would be great, thanks in advance

George, I looked in my chilton and it looks like its the Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) and it appears to be on the back of the throttle body with a couple of bolts holding it on and a hose coming out of it. And i would guess you would just clean it with carb and choke cleaner? Anybody with any experience please chime in!!

I have always just used spray on "Gunk" carb cleaner and elbow grease, nothing abrasive. Don't forget to replace the gasket.
