93 f-150 engine over heating, fan relay?
#19
Quicklook, I could have sworn the fan kicked on when the motor wasnt running, but from what you guys are telling me that cant be the case. I remember a couple years ago I replaced a simple fuse in my car that fixed the coolant fan to start working again, I think I was thinking about my car instead. Im going to go work on it now and Ill let you guys know what I find, hopefully I can fix the problem today.
Your right about the parts, thermostat and water pump was both bought at auto zone.
Thanks alot all!

Ok, here is what I got, I changed the thermostat and there is no change. The truck has no heat coming out of the heater once it warms up and it also over heats sitting at idol for approx 30 min.
The top hose coming from the radiator that goes into the thermostat is hot(warm) to the touch and also feels like the hose is full (solid) of fluid when I squeeze it.
The hose coming from the bottom of the radiator that goes to the pump feels like its half full of water when I squeeze it.
Once it starts to over heat, the bottom hose , that goes to the radiator to the water pump looks like hose wants to cave in half way. (the hose does NOT totally collapsed)
While the engine is running I filled the radiator up all the way up. (Approx 2 gallons) While the engine is running and I look down into the radiator the coolant doesn't look like its circulating at all. Once I put the cap back on and it starts to over heat the fluid will come out of the overflow reservoir.
I have no leaks anywhere that I can tell, especially the outside area of the water pump's bone dry.
I checked the fan , and its a mechanical fan for sure.
I hope I'm not forgetting anything but this is what I have going on at this point, i hope I'm explaining this well enough for you guys to understand what I'm trying to say. I know what I want to say, but trying to type it is difficult for me for some reason,LOL!

You have the wrong water pump. I don't know what is what, but from V-Pulley to sepentine, the water pump rotation is reversed. (Due to the rotational change on the pulley from different belt routing.)
The reason the bottom hose is collapsing is because of the negative pressure being induced by the pump trying to suck from the bottom instead of pushing the hotter water to the rad.
You don't have any heat (except for convection/ghost flow) because the pump is isolated from the heat exchanger loop.

Dave, I have had that water pump on that truck for about a year or two, never had problems with it then, and it always kept the water circulating to put out heat out of my heater, untill a couple weeks ago when I changed my raditor that was leaking and now my heater blow cold and runs Hot.
Today I losend the radator cap and let it run for 45 minutes, this time it didnt over heat, but the gauge was reading about 1/4 from it being in the hot, it didnt overheat this time but my heater was still blowing cold air.
