Horn issues

Every time I floor the gas pedal when passing a car going up a hill (hwy driving)or even give it a quick shot of gas when changing lanes in the city...my horn blows. I've gotten more fingers from offended people than I can count! I don't know what was done to the truck before I bought it 3yrs ago but i've had this problem since i've owned it. The only thing i've done to fix this problem so far is disconnect the horn and go with out one.

I can't seem to find any other posts regarding this problem, so I figured I'd put it out there. Any ideas on where to start would be a great help!

Yes, it works fine from the steering wheel. When I give it a good shot of gas, (it would seem to anyone outside of the truck) as if I was laying on the horn at the same time. It normally gives off 3 honks.....2 short and 1 long.

BTW welcome to FTE.

OK, good feedback, so it's not just one honk of the horn, but always the multi sound pattern you posted????

Do you have electric door locks & the "PATS" ani-theft system????

Edit: Also do you have any aftermarket electronic add-on's????

Thanks, I love this site.

I do have power locks and the "PATS". I bought the truck with a Viper alarm system already installed and other than a cd player, I haven't installed anything else electical.

It is always the 3 honk pattern when it happens, unless I take my foot off the gas when I hear the "first honk".

I disabled the Viper but we've had so much snow fall over the past little bit that I can't get out on the roads to safely test it out. I sat in the driveway, with it in Park and gave it a few good shots of gas and the horn didn't blow. I did the same thing with the Viper enabled.. sat with it in Park.. and got one small horn blow. As soon as the weather clears up some, i'll test it out and let you know further. Thanks for the help so far.
