I took out the stock AM/FM radio and added a CD player. I noticed there are rear speaker grills behind the seat that are not populated. I have not explored, but wondered does Ford have a harness already back there to add those speakers. I put in the Metra wiring harness for that model which plugs directly to the OEM plug and has the wiring to accommodate the four speaker system. If not I have to do a little more homework and wire pulling.

Is it an x-cab or standard? I'd venture to guess the wires are there. I could be wrong but doubt it. Even my crappy Kia Rio had speaker wiring to all 4 holes despite not coming with a radio... I think Ford uses 6X8's back there, or at least on the x-cab.

 

My 2006 reg cab xl had the rear speaker grilles but no speakers and no wires. When I installed my Pioneer stereo I had to run all the wires myself.
