Bio Problems
Does anyone know what causes suspened glycerin in your homemade bio? I have been happily making for two years now, but seem to have a bad reaction. It seperated into three layers instead of two, one dark, one a little lighter, then normal looking bio on top. When I drained off these two layers, the bio won't filter, the filters keep plugging up, just instantly, without even a gallon going through. What causes this.

Sounds like you didn't get a complete reaction...
Was the WVO you used different than normal? Maybe there was a much higher FFA content to it.... more animal fats.
Why don't you titrate whats left and try another reaction?

Whats FFA, I don't use any animal fats, only completely liquid oils. What do you mean, like reacting the same stuff again? I don't have a pH tester or anything like that, I just do trial and error test batches.

Sounds like a soap layer, a good indicator of to much water present.
Soaps form when there are a lot of FFAs present which indicates an incomplete reaction.
Sometimes you can break the emulsion (soap) layer by heating.

I have fixed things like this before by heating, but I heated this a LOT and it just won't come out. I don't know what else to do. Where can I get a titration kit?
