[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-Apr-02 AT 07:41 PM (EST)]What is the best bang for your buck with the 300 I-6 EFI? In other words what is the best mod you can do to increase power, that at the same time is not going to drain your wallet?
My best mod was making the restrictor plate for the EGR. It cost me nothing but 20 minutes of time. The engine runs much better and for the first time I have felt the torque the six is supposed to produce. Much better mid range power. Up until making the plate I wished I had 5.0. After I swap 3.55 gears for 4.11's I think I'll be really satisfied.
I would have to say the best mod for 1986 and older 300's would be switching to dual exhaust. I did that and a 4bbl intake and cam upgrade and still almost doubled my gas mileage. Best $120 I spent. (well more like $700-$800 after exhaust, carb, cam, intake, etc.... but just the exhaust will do wonders)
shotgun, how do u make an egr restrictor plate? id like to try it.
and as far as the duel exaust i just have some questions? like how did u run, it mine is a 95 with 2 maniflods, what type of setup did you use , how big of pipe, and most important can a 300 6 sound good? i really would like a deep sound if i put pipes on it.
So far, I would say ALL my mods. The cam woke up the engine when I stuffed it in...but the 4bbl and the header WOKE it up big time. I have to be careful now when pressing the go pedal.

Evan: Remove the two bolts that secure the EGR to the intake manifold. Carefully remove the old gasket. Use this as a templat and trace the outline of the gasket and bolt holes on a piece of thin stainless steel. When finished your restrictor will be just like the gasket, except solid.
Trim the outside of the plate with a pair of tin snips. Drill the bolt holes out with a drill. Use a little silicon sealant (form-a-gasket)to get a good seal. Slip the plate in place of the gasket and reenstall the two bolts. Go for a test drive and see if it runs any better.
Hi I am new here and I would like to know if you all can help how much torque & hp does a 84 300 I-6 have stock and then how much after a cam & header & 4bbl
