Performance mods?

Are there any cheaper performance mods for these engines? Like pulleys or something. I dont want to go as far as superchargers, just bolt on stuff that adds a lil power and wont hurt the reliability. Im already getting the intake. anything else?

Can the cat be removed? or gutted?
Which tunner or chips for the 5.4 would be best?
My muffler is just about shot. What should I replace it with?
thanks

I would leave the cats alone. They flow pretty good and don't really hurt much. I used a 40 series Flowmaster with 3" inlet and dual 2.5" outlets that exit out the rear. I am happy with my DIABLOSPORT PREDATOR programmer. I haven't used any others, so I can't comment on them.

I have done cai, 3 inch straight pipe, headers, tuner, and some modification to the intake elbow. I would be lucky if I yielded 30 hp after all that money....I want to do gears next and i think that would help out more than any other mod I have done.
